Stuck in London traffic on a dark winter's night, fire-fighter Steve Sumner watches aghast as numerous unlit cyclists weave amongst the traffic, intent on suicide. The idea of fitting automatic lights into the cycle pedals comes into his mind. These lights would offer highly distinctive night-time lighting whilst remaining attached to the bike.

Steve tells his friend Trevor Keena - a pilot with a background in electronic design - and together they develop a working protoype which they call the 'Ledal'.

Steve and Trevor develop fully working prototypes whilst continuing to perfect the Ledals design. They continue to seek capital to finalise their work and prepare to introduce Ledals to the market.
